Further Information:
As most Fossombronia species, F. caespitiformis have prostrate stems not more than 15 mm long, producing pale or bright green leaves which are variously curled and crisped, giving them a lettuce-like appearance. The rhizoids are present along the length of the stems, marron in colour. It is a monoicous species, with naked male and female organs together on the same stem or plant. It produces many spherical, black capsules on an erect, semi-translucent seta.
